Justin Mattingly Named Assistant to the PGCBL PresidentPerfect Game Collegiate Baseball League President Jeff Kunion announced today that Justin Mattingly has joined the PGCBL in the position of Assistant to the President. Prior to joining the league office, Mattingly worked for the Watertown Rams in the summer of 2012 and 2013. This past summer, he served as the Press Box Coordinator, managing operations related to broadcasting games on Teamline and WNER 1410 AM radio. He also handle acted as then team's statistician and assisted with media related activities. In 2012, he served as the in game sound director and wrote daily press note articles for the team. In his new role, Mattingly will work on day to day media operations, including social media, developing a league media guide, managing the league web site and editing The Daily Rundown which recaps the latest PGCBL games, previews upcoming games and highlights league statistics. Mattingly, a native of Philadelphia, NY, is currently attending Syracuse University, majoring in Newspaper and On Line Journalism at the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications. He is pursuing minors in Sport Management, Political Science and religion. Mattingly is currently a writer for The Daily Orange, one of the premier college newspapers in the U.S., according to the Princeton Review. He is also a member of the Syracuse University Baseball Statistics and Sabermetrics Club and was a major contributor to the group's research project analyzing atmospheric conditions in baseball, which was recently presented at the MIT Sloan Analytics Conference. "Justin really has a grasp of the PGCBL, our stat pak software and what we are trying to accomplish with The Daily Rundown.", stated PGCBL President Jeff Kunion. "But, what truly set him apart from our other candidates was his written communication skills. He is a very talented writer." It really let's me combine my two passions, baseball and writing.", exclaimed Mattingly. The PGCBL is a summer collegiate baseball league in upstate New York featuring nine teams who play a 48 game schedule starting June 4.
