The Elmira Pioneers announced this afternoon the signing of two pitchers from the University of Kentucky.  Freshmen left hander Logan Salow and red shirt sophomore right hander Blake Oyler will join the Pioneers at the completion of the #17 nationally ranked Wildcats season.

Salow, hails from Ashland, KY where he was instrumental in leading the Paul Blazer HS to a district and regional championship in 2013.  He also garnered Kentucky's Regional Player of the Year honors in both his junior and senior seasons.  As a freshman, Salow has had the opportunity to pitch in 16 games, going 2-1 with an ERA of 3.10 and 22 strikeouts in only 20 innings of work.  He was recently named SEC Pitcher of the Week (April 13 - April 20).  "Logan is a crafty left handed pitcher who will an  impact player in the PGCBL.", stated Pioneers Head Coach Matt Burch.

Oyler hails from Louisville, KY and was ranked the 17th best high school prospect in Kentucky his senior year.  Oyler finished the 2012 season with a 9-3 record and a 2.10 ERA for Louisville Male HS.  Prior to transferring to Kentucky he pitched at Transylvania University where he appeared in 9 games, going 1-2 with a 2.72 ERA.  "With Blake, we look forward to adding another quality  SEC pitcher for the 2014 season."  commented Head Coach Matt Burch.
