Alumni from PGCBL Franchises in the Pros![]() Hunter Pence (PC: Stephen Dunn/Getty Images North America) More than 70 former players from PGCBL franchises are playing in either Major League Baseball or Minor League Baseball at the start of the 2015 season. Hunter Pence, who played for the Schenectady Mohawks (now the Amsterdam Mohawks), will look to defend his recent World Series win for the San Francisco Giants. He is starting the season on the 15-day DL. Caleb Thielbar, a former Little Falls Miner (now the Mohawk Valley DiamondDawgs), is starting the season in Triple A Rochester, but has spent time with the Minnesota Twins the past two seasons. Shae Simmons, who played for the Watertown Wizards in 2010, underwent Tommy John surgery this offseason after posting a 2.91 ERA for the Atlanta Braves last season. Logan Darnell, who played for the Amsterdam Mohawks in 2008, is starting the season in Triple A Rochester, but threw 24 innings for the Twins last year. Cord Phelps, a 2006 Mohawk, is currently in Triple A for the Philadelphia Phillies, but has seen time in the majors the past two seasons. Stefen Romero, a 2008 Glens Falls Golden Eagle, is starting the season in Tacoma for Seattle. He had 177 at-bats for the Mariners last year. Brendan Harris, who played for the Schenectady Mohawks in 1999, is currently in Double A for the Detroit Tigers organization. He has made it to the majors in nine different seasons. Brian Moran, a 2007 Glens Falls Golden Eagle, is currently in Triple A Tacoma in the Mariners organization. He has a career 3.06 ERA. Mel Rojas Jr., who played from Amsterdam in 2009 and 2010, is in Triple A Indianapolis for the Pittsburgh Pirates. The 24-year-old hit .277 last year. Wade Gaynor, a 2007 Elmira Pioneer, is in Triple A Toledo for the Detroit Tigers organization. He already has three RBIs this year. Joe Sclafani, a 2009 Mohawk, is in Triple A Fresno for the Houston Astros organization. The 24-year-old hit .339 in Triple A last year. James Hoyt, a 2008 Little Falls Miner, was involved in the Evan Gattis trade this offseason and is in Triple A Fresno for the Astros organization. He had a 1.14 ERA in Double A for the Braves last year. Chad Stang, a 2008 Glens Falls Golden Eagle, is in Double A Huntsville for the Milwaukee Brewers organization. Anthony Giansanti, who was also on the 2008 Glens Falls team and also 2009, is playing for the Double A Tennessee Smokies of the Chicago Cubs organization. Carlos Gonzalez, a 2011 Watertown Wizard, is playing for the Double A Pensacola Blue Wahoos in the Reds organization. He had a 3.63 ERA last year. Sean Jamieson, a 2009 Elmira Pioneer, is currently playing for the Mobile BayBears, the Double A affiliate of the Arizona Diamondbacks. He hit .302 last year with a .802 OPS. Luke Maile, who played for the Amsterdam Mohawks in 2010 and 2011, is currently playing for the Durham Bulls, the Triple A affiliate of the Tampa Bay Rays. He had a .726 OPS last year. Kyle Hunter, a 2010 Amsterdam Mohawks, is currently playing for the Double A Jackson Generals of the Seattle Mariners organization. He had a 3.13 ERA in 2014 and a 1.40 ERA in 2013. Ben Alsup, a 2008 Amsterdam Mohawk, is currently playing for the Advanced A Modesto Nuts of the Colorado Rockies organization. Ben Klimesh, who played for the Albany Dutchmen in 2009, is currently playing for Double A Pensacola of the Cincinnati Reds organization. He struck out 13.5 batters per nine innings last year in Double A. Tyler Rogers, a 2010 Mohawk Valley DiamondDawg, is currently playing for Double A Richmond of the San Francisco Giants organization. He has a career 1.91 ERA in the minors. Logan Uxa, a 2011 Elmira Pioneer, is a member of Class A Delmarva of the Baltimore Orioles organization. Dylan Baker, a 2011 Glens Falls Golden Eagle, is currently a member of Class A Advanced Lynchburg of the Cleveland Indians organization. He had nine strikeouts in his first appearance of the season. Lance Durham, a 2009 Glens Falls Golden Eagle, is on Class A Advanced Lakeland of the Detroit Tigers organization to start the season. Mark Leiter, who played for Amsterdam in 2011 and 2012, is currently a member of Class A Advanced Clearwater of the Philadelphia Phillies organization. He has a career 3.67 ERA in the minors. Mason McVay, a 2009 Amsterdam Mohawk, is on Class A Advanced San Jose of the San Francisco Giants organization to start the season. He struck out more than 10 men per nine innings last year. Rob Rogers, who played for the Watertown Wizards in 2011, is currently on Class A Advanced Rancho Cucamonga of the Los Angeles Dodgers organization. Jon Schwind, a 2010 Amsterdam Mohawk, is in Double A Altoona of the Pittsburgh Pirates organization to start the season. He hit .289 with a .762 OPS last year in Class A Advanced. Zach Shank, a 2011 Amsterdam Mohawk, is in Class A Advanced Bakersfield of the Seattle Mariners organization to start the season. He had an Isolated Slugging of .147 last year. Jimmy Yacabonis, a 2012 Elmira Pioneer, is in Class A Advanced Frederick of the Baltimore Orioles organization to start the season. James Dykstra, a 2011 Amsterdam Mohawk, is in Class A Advanced Winston-Salem of the Chicago White Sox organization to start the season. He had a 2.45 ERA in Class A last year. Andrew Brown, a 2009 Glens Falls Golden Eagle, is with Class A Asheville of the Colorado Rockies organization to start the season. He’s on the restricted list. Dan Klein, a 2011 Glens Falls Golden Eagle, is on the voluntary retired list to start the season. Carlos Lopez, who played for the Elmira Pioneers in 2010, is with Class A Hagerstown of the Washington Nationals organization. He had a .748 OPS last year. Angel Rosa, who played for the Watertown Wizards in 2011, is currently playing for Class A Advanced Inland Empire of the Los Angeles Angels organization to start the season. He hit .348 with a .854 OPS in Class A Advanced last year. Brandon Trinkwon, who played for the Albany Dutchmen in 2011, is with Class A Advanced Rancho Cuacamonga of the Los Angeles Dodgers organization to start the season. Will Remillard, who played for the Albany Dutchmen in 2012, is with Class A South Bend of the Chicago Cubs organization to start the season. He hit .286 with a .753 OPS last year for the Cougars. Tyler Brunnermann, who played for the Adirondack Trail Blazers in 2009, is with Class A Advanced Lancaster of the Houston Astros organization to start the season. He has a career 2.33 ERA in the minors. Kerry Doane, a 2012 Amsterdam Mohawk, is on the voluntary retired list to start the season. William Gabay, a 2011 Mohawk Valley DiamondDawg, was recently signed by the New York Yankees and has not been optioned to a particular franchise. Jack Graham, a 2011 Glens Falls Golden Eagle, is on the voluntary retired list to start the season. Omar Garcia, a 2012 Oneonta Outlaw, is with Class A Advanced Brevard County of the Milwaukee Brewers organization to start the season. He had a .339 OBP last year. Jon Leroux, who played for the Albany Dutchmen in 2009, is with Class A Savannah of the New York Mets organization to start the season. Brian Loconsole, who played for the Elmira Pioneers in 2009 and 2010, is with Class A Advanced Inland Empire of the Los Angeles Angels organization to start the season. He had a 1.68 ERA last year. Nick Pivetta, a 2012 Glens Falls Golden Eagle, is with Class A Advanced Potomac of the Washington Nationals organization to start the season. Justin Brantley, who played for the Albany Dutchmen in 2011, is with Class A Advanced Lynchburg of the Cleveland Indians organization to start the season. He had a 1.31 ERA last year. Tyler Bray, a 2013 Mohawk Valley DiamondDawg, is with Class A Peoria of the St. Louis Cardinals organization to start the season. He had a 2.96 ERA with the State College Spikes last year. Dan Gamache, who played for the Amsterdam Mohawks in 2009, is with Double A Altoona of the Pittsburgh Pirates organization to start the season. He hit .275 with a .826 OPS last year in Double A. Tyler Kane, a 2011 Mohawk Valley DiamondDawg, was assigned to Class A Short Season Batavia of the Miami Marlins organization. He has a career 3.84 ERA in the minors. Ross Kivett, a 2012 Glens Falls Golden Eagle, is with Class A West Michigan of the Detroit Tigers organization to start the season. He hit .289 with a .722 OPS in Class A Short Season last year.
