Tracy, Mohawks Slug Trail Blazers for Eleventh StraightBrendan Tracy (Fairfield) went deep twice as part of a 4-for-5, five RBI night as the Amsterdam Mohawks knocked out 15 hits en route to a 15-2 win over the Adirondack Trail Blazers on Tuesday night at Shuttleworth Park. Tracy added a single and a double and scored twice. Hunter Tackett (Auburn) was 1-for-3 with a home run and four RBIs. Every Amsterdam starter recorded a hit and scored a run. Adirondack started the scoring in the first when Luca Farina (William and Mary) doubled home Kyle Walker (Rutgers) and later scored on an RBI single by Chris Kwitzer (Buffalo) to make it 2-0 Adirondack. Amsterdam would tie it up with two outs in the bottom half of the inning. Tracy drove home Tackett and Justin Yurchak (Wake Forest) with a double. The Mohawks added four more runs in the second, highlighted by Tackett’s three-run shot to left made it 6-2 Amsterdam. Tracy led off the bottom of the third inning with a solo home run to extend the lead to 7-2 before Gage West would score while the Trail Blazers tried to make a play on Drew Freedman’s (Wake Forest) steal of second. Tyler Kirkpatrick (Marist) led off the bottom of the sixth with a solo shot of his own that made it 9-2. Riley Mahan (Kentucky) and Tackett would add RBI singles to push the lead to nine. Macy Holdsworth (Indiana) recorded his first hit as a Mohawk with a two-RBI single in the 8th, before Brendan Tracy launched a two-run home run to right in the ninth to make it 15-2. The win went to Brad Schaenzer (Kentucky), who improved to 2-0. The loss was charged to Tyler Childrose (Siena) as he dropped to 0-1. The Mohawks’ streak is now at eleven straight wins and will travel with them to Saugerties Wednesday night when they face the Stallions at 6:35 p.m. Adirondack (8-10) will look to bounce back against Mohawk Valley on Wednesday night in Boonville at 7 p.m. |
