Collegiate Alumni Roundup: April 11

Now into the dog days of the collegiate baseball season, PGCBL alumni have really stood out.

Many of those successful alumni came from the PGCBL class of 2014. Here’s a look at how five of those alumni fared this weekend, in the latest edition of the collegiate alumni roundup.

1. Rollie Lacy, Adirondack

Lacy tossed seven innings of one-run ball to improve to 5-1 on the season for Creighton. He struck out two batters and allowed just three hits. At one point in the game, he retired 12-of-14 Seton Hall hitters.

He earned his second BIG EAST Pitcher of the Week award of the season, it was announced Monday.

2. Brandon Holup, Elmira

Holup struck out seven batters over seven innings of one-run ball to earn his fourth win of the season for East Stroudsburg.

3. Thomas Hackimer, Amsterdam

Hackimer picked up both his fourth win of the season and his fourth save of the season this weekend for St. John’s. While picking up the win and the save, he combined for six strikeouts with no runs allowed.

4. Jayson Yano, Newark

Yano was a dual threat this weekend, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases in the same game he allowed no runs in seven innings of work with nine strikeouts.

5. John Sansone, Amsterdam

Sansone was named ACC Player of the Week after leading Florida State to three wins over the course of the week, highlighted by a .500 batting average and team highs in hits (10), RBIs (10), total bases (17) and slugging percentage (.850). He added five extra base hits.

At the end of the day, there were many PGCBL alumni who contributed significant results in their respective teams’ games. There won't be an alumni update next week.

The PGCBL is affiliated with Perfect Game, the largest independent scouting service in the country.  Last year, more than 1,400 professional players had either worn the uniform of a PGCBL team or participated in a Perfect Game event.
