League Leaders Batting Average: Kyle Ruedisili, Oneonta (.439) Home Runs: Seven tied at 2 RBIs: Justin Childers, Albany (15) Stolen Bases: JJ Shimko, Albany (11) Wins: Two tied at 3 ERA: Four tied at 0.00 Strikeouts: Joe DeSarro, Mohawk Valley (22) Innings Pitched: Skyler Defer, Newark (22.2) Saves: Two tied at 4 Streak Leaders Longest Winning Streak (Active): Elmira (6) Best record in last 10 games: Elmira (9-1) Longest Losing Streak (Active): Glens Falls (6) Last Night’s Games: Newark 2 Adirondack 1 The Newark Pilots held off a late Adirondack rally to beat the Trail Blazers, 2-1, at Colburn Park. Chris Whelan put the Pilots on top in the first with a sacrifice fly. He scored on a wild pitch in the third to make it a 2-0 game. In the ninth, Chuck Hoover scored for Adirondack on a wild pitch but Brian Dolan recovered and got the save. Russ Olive got the win for Newark as Mitchell Boyer took the loss. Albany 7 Saugerties 0 (Game One) The Albany Dutchmen took game one of a doubleheader with a 7-0 win over the Saugerties Stallions in the Capital City. Justin Childers put the Dutchmen up early, hitting a two-run home run in the bottom of the first. Malcolm Nachmanoff drove home Childers in the fifth with a single and Albany added three insurance runs in the sixth with Carson Klepzig hitting a solo home run, Tristan Rojas hitting an RBI triple and Nachmanoff hit an RBI single. Jack Grabek tossed five scoreless innings, striking out six to get the win. Anthony Rocco took the loss for Saugerties. Albany 4 Saugerties 3 (Game Two) The Albany Dutchmen walked off against the Saugerties Stallions, 4-3, to sweep a doubleheader. Justin Childers hit a walk-off single in the bottom of the eighth to give the Dutchmen the win. The Dutchmen had scored lone runs in the first three innings to take a 3-0 lead before Saugerties plated two in the sixth and one in the seventh to tie the game. Joe Pokrentowski tossed an inning and a third of scoreless relief to earn the win while Mike Davis took the loss for the Stallions. Mohawk Valley 6 Amsterdam 5 In their third matchup this week, the Mohawk Valley DiamondDawgs topped the Amsterdam Mohawks, 6-5, in Little Falls. Amsterdam got out to a 1-0 lead in the second on an RBI groundout. A Michael Ketchmark two-run double gave the DiamondDawgs the lead in the third. Tanner Wessling hit an RBI double and Andrew Turner hit an RBI triple in the fourth to extend the lead to 4-1. Both teams scored two runs in the sixth to make it a 6-3 game. Amsterdam rallied for two runs in the eighth to make it a one-run game but Mohawk Valley held them off in the ninth to earn the win. Mike Appel got the win for the DiamondDawgs as Zachary Vennaro notched the save. Johnny Malatesta took the loss. Elmira 6 Victor 5 The Elmira Pioneers extended their home winning streak with a 6-5 win over the Victor RailRiders at Dunn Field. The Pioneers struck first, scoring a lone run in the first. Tyler Plantier made it a 2-0 game in the third with an RBI triple. The RailRiders took the lead in the fourth, scoring four runs. Elmira made it a one-run game in the home half. Phil Madonna tied the game in the fifth with an RBI single and the Pioneers took the lead for good in the sixth. Victor scored a run in the ninth on an error but it wasn’t enough. Kyle Stuart got the win for Elmira as Cody Thompson notched the save. Brian Reed took the loss. Jamestown 5 Geneva 2 The Jamestown Jammers scored three runs in the seventh inning to beat the Geneva Red Wings, 5-2. Scott Braren hit a three-run triple in the seventh to break the tie. In the fourth inning, Drake Sykes hit an RBI double to put Jamestown on top and in the home half, Skyler Valentine hit a solo home run and Ben Brookover hit an RBI double. Geneva tied the game in the seventh before Braren’s triple. Danny Naif got the win for the Jammers as Cory Blessing notched the save. Alec Jordan took the loss. Utica 3 Glens Falls 2 The Utica Blue Sox walked off against the Glens Falls Dragons, 3-2, at Donovan Stadium to move to double digits in the win column. Dylan Hutcheson singled home Franklin Jennings in the bottom of the ninth to give the Blue Sox the win. Glens Falls took an early 1-0 lead in the first on a Robbie Knightes RBI single and Drew Greenwood hit an RBI single in the second to move to 2-0. Utica tied the game in the seventh before the ninth inning heroics. Ryan Green got the win for Utica while John Bednarek took the loss.
