Lance Pierces Geneva With Help of Pioneers, Win 3-1The Red Wings took advantage of an Elmira error early on to take a one run lead in the second. The Pioneers quickly responded thanks to back to back RBI singles by Troy Dixon (Samford) and Rob Perteet (Samford). The Pioneers would lead 2-1 at the end of the third. Ty Denzer (Kansas) would lead off with a walk at the bottom of the fifth. Denzer would then take advantage of a couple of Red Wing errors to make it home to bring the score 3-1. After that it was all defense and solid pitching that shut down the Red Wings for the rest of the game. Elliot Lance (Wofford) would earn the win. He pitched six innings, giving up three hits, one unearned run and striking out five Red Wings. Tom Sutera (Siena) was charged with the loss also pitching six innings. He gave up five hits, three runs (one earned), and walked two batters. Austin Hansen (Seattle U.) earned his first save of the season giving up two hits but also struck out two batters. The Pioneers will play against the Syracuse Saltcats @7:05 tomorrow in an exhibition game which features Arnot Helath pompom’s and it is also $1 Hot Dog Night. The Pioneers finish the long home stand on Tuesday when they face the Jamestown Jammers 7:05 p.m. Tuesday’s game is Stitches Birthday Party! It also features Party time cow bells and it is Valu Home Centers Night.
