After dropping their last five games at home and eight of their last 10 overall, the Adirondack Trail Blazers defeat the Geneva Red Wings 7-5 in Boonville.

From the start of the game, it appeared to be a pitcher’s duel. The Red Wings, however, would strike first in the second inning with a double by Alex Gionis. Mitch Doucette brought Gionis home to score after a throwing error by Blazers starter Dylan Borawski. After trailing 2-1 entering the top of the fifth, Geneva reclaimed the lead after an RBI double by Matthew Eastman and Luke Johnson hit home Jordan Wiley. The Blazers and Red Wings exchanged the lead throughout the game, but Geneva was shut down by Donald Goodson in the final two innings and fell short.

Adirondack came into game six of their six-game home series dropping five straight and desperately need momentum entering a three-game road trip to southern New York. The Trail Blazers scored two runs in the bottom of the third to take a 2-1 lead. In the fifth, an RBI single from Kenny Collins evened the score at 3-3. In the home half of the seventh, Adirondack was trailing 5-4. Collins, Paul Piccolino and Justin Lebeck all made a full round of the bases to give their team a 7-5 lead. Clutch pitching by Goodson saved the lead and secured the win the Trail Blazers. 

Dylan Borawski won his second game of the season. Andy Reed received his first loss in 2016. Goodson picked up his first save.

Adirondack begins a three-game road trip on Friday against the Jamestown Jammers. Geneva will return home Friday to take on the Newark Pilots. Adirondack and Geneva will play again on Saturday, July 16, in Geneva.
