Pioneers Win Seventh Straight Over The TrailBlazers, Defeat Adirondack 5-1

After getting rained out yesterday at Little Falls, NY the Pioneers looked to get back in action against the Adirondack TrailBlazers.

Rob Perteet (Samford) got the Pioneers on the board at the top of the third on the very first pitch. He hit a solo shot to right field over the fence and into the trees to make the score 1-0.

The Pios would continue to put runs on the board as a Brian Kelly (Siena) RBI single, a Lucas Denney sacrifice fly (Seattle U.) and a Kyle Ruth (LIU Brooklyn) RBI walk would put Elmira up 4-0 at the end of the fifth.

The TrailBlazers would tack one on in the bottom of the eighth to bring the score 4-1 but reliever Marc Galvan (Manhattan) would strike out the side to close out the inning.

Ty Denzer (Kansas) would hit an RBI double in the top of the ninth to put the score 5-1.

The winning pitcher would be Sean Hjelle (Kentucky) as he pitched five innings and allowed only two hits and no runs. Connor Donahue (U. of Mass.) would take the loss for the TrailBlazers as he gave up four runs on ten hits. Galvan recorded six strikeouts in three innings pitched and Cody Thompson (Randolph Macon) struck out one batter in a scoreless ninth inning.
