The DiamondDawgs scored the game’s first run in the fourth inning on a Mac Crispino RBI single. A Justin Fowler RBI single in the fifth made it 2-0 but Albany brought it to 2-1 in the home half on a Bray Curreri RBI triple. The DiamondDawgs added four insurance runs in the ninth inning to secure the win. Joe DeSarro picked up his league-leading seventh win of the season as he tossed seven innings of one-run ball. Jackson Bubala took the loss for Albany. Glens Falls 8 Elmira 5 The Glens Falls Dragons were strong in the early innings as they went on to beat the Elmira Pioneers, 8-5, at East Field. Elmira took a 1-0 lead in the first inning but Glens Falls took the lead for good in the second on a Drew Greenwood two-run single. A Nate Cardy two-run single and a sacrifice fly in the third extended the lead to 5-1. The Dragons added lone runs in the fifth, sixth and eighth innings. Elmira plated three in the seventh on a Zeke Lewis two-run triple and a Phil Madonna RBI double to try and come back but Glens Falls held on for the win. Andrew Kneussle pitched well in earning the win for the Dragons as Matt Stojkov notched the save. Andrew Sipowicz took the loss for Elmira. Utica 11 Geneva 8 In a high-scoring affair, the Utica Blue Sox topped the Geneva Red Wings, 11-8, on the road. The scoring started early as Utica scored two runs in the first and Geneva scored one. Both teams scored four runs in the third with Geneva’s coming on a Matthew Eastman grand slam. In the fifth, a Taylor Olmstead RBI single and a bases loaded walk extended the lead. In a wild eighth inning, the Blue Sox plated two and Geneva scored three in what ended up being the game’s final scoring. Chad Burrows tossed two scoreless innings of relief to earn the win as Jonas Lovin notched the save. Andy Reed took the loss for Geneva. Jamestown 17 Victor 4 (Game One) The Jamestown Jammers used a nine-run fourth inning to beat the Victor RailRiders, 17-4, on the road. Wednesday’s game was a completion of a suspended game from earlier this month. The Jammers got out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning on a Ben Brookover two-run double and a groundout. Then in the fourth, Scott Braren hit a solo home run, a sacrifice fly scored a run, Christ Conley hit a three-run home run, an error plated three runs and Hunter Jones hit an RBI single. Victor got one run back in the home half on a Nathan Koslowski home run. The Jammers scored a lone run in the sixth and plated four more in the eighth, including two on a Conley double. Jack Zagaja hit a three-run home run in the eighth for Victor. Steve Simmons allowed one run in 6.1 innings to earn the win while Jake Hewitt took the loss for Victor. Jamestown 5 Victor 0 (Game Two) The Jamestown Jammers limited the Victor RailRiders to just three hits, shutting them out, 5-0, to clinch a spot in the PGCBL postseason. The Jammers took a 2-0 lead in the third inning on a CJ Pickering RBI double and a Christ Conley RBI single. Hunter Jones hit an RBI single in the sixth to make it 3-0 and a groundout and Alex O’Donnell RBI single finished the scoring. Chris Vallimont had a stellar outing, tossing a complete game while striking out 12 batters as he earned the win. Brennen Smith took the loss for Victor, who is not yet eliminated from the PGCBL postseason. If the RailRiders go 4-0 to end the season, they finish with a record of 26-23. If Newark goes 0-4 to end the season, they finish 26-24. Oneonta 3 Saugerties 1 Two runs in the fifth inning gave the Oneonta Outlaws a 3-1 comeback win over the Saugerties Stallions at home. The Stallions had taken a 1-0 lead in the third inning, but Oneonta plated two in the fifth and one in the sixth to come back and get the victory. Josh Covey struck out six over five innings to earn the win for the Outlaws as Ty Fowler notched the save. Caleb Gregg took the loss for Saugerties.
