The first team is below: C – Joe Genord (Amsterdam Mohawks) OF – JJ Shimko (Albany Dutchmen) SP – Joe DeSarro (Mohawk Valley DiamondDawgs) SP – Evan Giles (Albany Dutchmen) RP – Troy Montemayor (Albany Dutchmen) RP – Parker Carraci (Elmira Pioneers)
Wickham is a member of the All-League Team after finishing the season with the second-highest batting average in the league (.376). The selection is a culmination of a successful season for Wickham, who clubbed two home runs, drove in 18 runs and finished with 12 extra base hits overall. His 29.474 Runs Created were the third-most among outfielders and fourth overall in the league. He finished the season with a .924 OPS.
A year after being named to the PGCBL All-League second team, Taylor Olmstead has been named to the PGCBL All-League first team. Olmstead hit .306 with 30 RBIs and 15 stolen bases. He led the league with seven triples and had 26.918 Runs Created. The Southern New Hampshire produce finished with 13 extra base hits on the season and was a member of the West Division All-Star Team.
OF: JJ Shimko (USC Upstate), Albany Shimko was an overall offensive force for the Albany Dutchmen this season, hitting .339 with close to 30 Runs Created and tying for the league lead with 28 stolen bases. The Week Two Player of the Week had the fifth-highest batting average in the league and wrapped up the regular season with a .443 on-base percentage and .872 OPS. He hit .386 with runners in scoring position and .396 against left-handed pitching for the second place Dutchmen. Childers has been named to the All-League Team after being the ultimate utility man for the Albany Dutchmen. While playing nearly every position on the field at some point this season, Childers hit .321 with three home runs and 31 RBIs. He stole 14 bases and had 28.247 Runs Created. The Ohio Dominican product hit nine doubles to go with a .837 OPS.
Enck set a new PGCBL record with a 0.39 ERA this season. He finished the summer with a 5-1 record for Amsterdam with 24 strikeouts in 46 innings. The right-hander had a 1.07 WHIP and opponents hit just .231 off him. Enck really buckled down during the rare occurrence of runners getting in scoring position as opponents hit .162 off him in those situations. He went 2-0 with a 1.38 ERA during the postseason.
SP: Joe DeSarro (Herkimer CC), Mohawk Valley
A Co-Pitcher of the Year, DeSarro led a Mohawk Valley pitching staff that won 27 games this season. He led the league with seven wins, which tied a league record. His 61 innings pitched also led the league and is the second-most in PGCBL history. The right-hander had a 2.80 ERA and a 1.10 WHIP. Opponents hit just .231 against him and he he struck out 46 batters, which was top 10 in the league. The Herkimer product went 7-0 in his final eight appearances. He allowed no more than two earned runs in any of those games. SP: Evan Giles (Indiana State), Albany Giles has been named to the All-League Team after anchoring an Albany pitching staff that posted the lowest team ERA in the league. He had a 1.50 ERA, the fourth-lowest in the league, in eight appearances (seven starts) and 37 strikeouts. The right-hander finished the season with a 3-2 record and 1.14 WHIP. Opponents hit just .200 off him. It got worse for lefties, who hit just .122 off him. Haney was dominant out of the Amsterdam bullpen, posting a 0.76 ERA in 15 appearances with a 2-1 record. He struck out 38 batters in 23.2 innings and opponents hit .167 off him. The sidearmer had a 0.68 WHIP, thanks in part to just two walks all season. He notched four saves in the regular season and another in the postseason.
RP: Troy Montemayor (Baylor), Albany Coming to Albany after posting a stellar freshman season at Baylor, Troy Montemayor put up astounding numbers for the Dutchmen, ultimately earning All-League Team honors. The righty had a 0.78 ERA for Baylor during the college season and a 0.52 ERA for the Dutchmen. He notched seven saves and struck out 25 batters in 17 innings. The righty had a 0.94 WHIP and a .219 batting average against.
