Albany (15-10) 13, Saugerties (13-13) 5
The Dutchmen exploded for 13 runs on 13 hits en route to a lopsided victory over the Stallions at Siena Field. Albany led 1-0 heading into the fourth inning and then tacked on five runs in the fourth and six more in the fifth. Peyton Sockwell (North Alabama) and Nick Estrella (Azusa Pacific) each had an opportunity at the plate with the bases loaded in the fourth, and both answered the call. Sockwell got things going with a two-run base hit and Estrella followed two batters later with a bases-clearing triple. In the fifth, Justin Childers (Ohio Dominican) delivered another big blow with a two-run double of his own. Tommy Miller (Siena) received the win with 6.0 shutout innings and improved to 3-0 on the season.

Utica (6-19) 12, Onondaga (12-13) 1
The top four batters in the Utica lineup did the bulk of the heavy lifting to guide the Blue Sox to a much-needed win over Onondaga. Rob Andreoli (LIU Post) was walked three times and scored three runs out of the lead-off spot and the No. 2 hitter, Devon Garcia (Ohio), finished 3-for-4 with two runs scored. Batting third was Kyle Norman (Buffalo), who went 2-for-4 with three runs and three RBIs, and cleanup hitter Zane Harris (Wright State) was 3-for-5 with a game-high four runs batted in. With all of the offensive support, Utica right-hander Louie Varland (Concordia-St. Paul) pieced together his best start of the summer, as he surrendered just one run and fanned seven in 7.0 innings.

Mohawk Valley (16-6) 12, Oneonta (7-19) 1
The DiamondDawgs own the longest active win streak in the East Division after capturing their eighth straight victory on Wednesday night over the Outlaws. Oneonta struck first with a run in the top of the third, but in the home half of the frame, Mohawk Valley responded with four runs to take a lead it would never relinquish. The Dawgs quickly widened the gap with a four-spot in the sixth and three more runs in the eighth. Clay Koniencki (Monmouth) and Ben Porter (Columbia) combined to produce four hits, four runs and five RBIs, while batting back-to-back in the lineup in the fifth and sixth spots. While they swung a hot bat, Tyler Ksiazek (Monmouth) hurled 6.0 innings of one-run ball with seven punch outs to earn the win.

Amsterdam (20-7) 12, Adirondack (9-14) 4
The Mohawks slugged four home runs, as part of their 12-run, 15-hit outburst in Boonville, N.Y., on Wednesday. Three of those dingers came off of the bat of Anthony Gonnella (South Florida), as he became the second player in the league to hit a trio of homers in a single game this season and finished just one shy of the league record of four, set by 2011 PGCBL Player of the Year Erick Gaylord (Campbell). Gonnella finished 3-for-4 with five RBIs and three runs scored, while John Valente (St. John’s), the other Mohawk who homered last night, was 3-for-6 with three RBIs and two runs. Heading into Thursday’s slate of games, both Gonnella and Valente sit in a two-way tie for the league lead with five homers.

Jamestown (23-5) 5, Elmira (14-14) 3
Elmira tallied the first three runs of the game in the fourth and fifth, including an RBI double from Ayrton Schafer (Samford) in the fourth and a sac fly from his college teammate Troy Dixon (Samford) in the fifth. Despite the 3-0 lead, the Jammers stormed back with five unanswered runs to secure their league-best 23rd win of the summer. Jamestown pulled ahead by one run, 4-3, on Collin Stack’s (UMBC) two-run base hit in the sixth. Chris Estrada (UTSA) added an RBI double in the home half of the seventh for good measure and in the ninth Colin Johnston (Monroe C.C.) needed only six pitches to lock down his fourth save.

Geneva (18-10) 10, Newark (7-23) 9 (10 innings)
The Red Wings and their nearby rival Pilots engaged in a back-and-forth extra-inning affair on Wednesday night at McDonough Park. Newark’s Colton Carney (Seton Hill) crushed a three-run homer in the top of the third that gave the Pilots a 3-2 lead. The Red Wings answered with two runs in the bottom of the inning to re-gain a 4-3 advantage, and through five full innings, they boasted an 8-4 lead. Newark managed to level the score at 8-all with an RBI double off the bat of Peter Battaglia (Niagara) in the top of the eighth. After a scoreless ninth, Geneva’s Dominic Toso (Bucknell) led off the 10th with a four-pitch walk and eventually touched home for the walk-off run on a two-out wild pitch.
