SAUGERTIES, N.Y. - The Saugerties Stallions snapped a four-game losing streak on Thursday night with a 5-3 victory over the visiting Mohawk Valley DiamondDawgs.

Saugerties starter Mark Meyer (Marshall) worked himself into a bases loaded jam in the top of third inning.  Stallions centerfielder, Matt Feinstein (Dartmouth) made a diving play for the final out of the inning to get the Stallions out of a jam, allowing no runs.

In the bottom half of the fourth inning, the Stallions used a pair of back to back doubles to score the game’s first run. Fenstein grounded into a fielder’s choice and later on stole second and scored on an Andrew Taft (Lemoyne) double.  Nick Teitter (St. Rose) doubled in the following at bat to score Taft and give the Stallions a 2-0 lead.

The DiamondDawgs would come back to score two runs in the top of the fifth to tie the game at two off a costly Stallions error.  The DiamondDawgs would go on to score another run in the top of seventh inning off another error by the Stallions, and take a 3-2 lead.

The Stallions would not go down.  In the top of the eighth Jack Gonzalez (Stetson) started the inning with a leadoff double.  Teitter would then hit another double for the Stallions, scoring Gonzalez, tying the game at three.  The next batter, Tyler Kelder (St. Bonaventure) hit the go ahead 2-run home run to seal the win for the Stallions.

The Stallions play their next game on Saturday, July 8 against the Amsterdam Mohawks.
