Jamestown Bullpen Implodes in 7-1 Loss vs. UticaJAMESTOWN, N.Y. - The Utica Blue Sox scored all of their runs in the top of the seventh inning, and that was all the offense they needed Utica Blue Sox defeat the Jamestown Jammers, 7-1, at Diethrick Park on Friday night. The starting pitchers both teams were outstanding. For the Jammers, Quinn Taylor (Felician) went 5.2 innings, allowing 0 runs on two hits and striking out two. The Blue Sox starter Riley Moore (Diablo Valley C.C.) was the star of the game and was lights out by tossing eight innings, allowing one run on four hits, and striking out seven. The Jammers took the lead in the bottom of the fifth by scoring one run on two hits. Skyler Valentine (UTSA) and Alex O’Donnell (Mercyhurst) led the inning off with back-to-back singles. After a walk to load the bases, Matt Cross (Niagara County C.C.) grounded out, but Valentine scored to take a 1-0 lead. The Blue Sox had an offensive explosion in the top of the seventh by scoring seven runs on six hits to blow the game open and take a 7-1 lead. Evan Lee (Ashland) got the inning started with a base hit. After a walk and another single loaded the bases, Kyle Norman (Buffalo) ripped an RBI single, followed by another walk that forced home a run. A wild pitched added another run, before Devon Garcia (Ohio) broke the game open with a two-run double. The Blue Sox would add two more runs on back-to-back hits to conclude the big inning. The Jammers were unable cut into the lead and the Blue Sox would on to win 7-1. The Jammers have already clinched first place in the West Division, while the Blue Sox are fighting for a playoff spot after entering Friday night three games behind fourth place in the East.
