PGCBL Daily Roundup: June 1, 2018![]() The 2018 Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball season is scheduled to begin tonight with a six-game slate across upstate New York. The Opening Night slate features the debut of the PGCBL's newest franchise, as well as the season's first two divisional matchups. Throughout the season, PGCBL.com will preview each day's action in the PGCBL Roundup. Amsterdam Mohawks at Utica Blue Sox- 6:35 PM The season officially begins in Utica, as the Blue Sox welcome the four-time PGCBL Champion Mohawks to town. The first game of the season is a rematch of the 2016 PGCBL Finals, where the Mohawks won their fourth title in a two game sweep. Last season, the Mohawks won five of the six meetings between the two teams. Watertown Rapids at Mohawk Valley DiamondDawgs - 6:45 PM The defending PGCBL champions take the field for the first official time in 2018, and welcome the league's newest franchise to the fray. Mohawk Valley is coming off an exhibition victory over the NYCBL's Rome Generals on Thursday night. Geneva Red Wings at Adirondack Trail Blazers - 7:05 PM The Adirondack Trail Blazers begin their seventh season in the PGCBL against the Red Wings, who are playing their third season in the league. Geneva, en route to a spot in the PGCBL Playoffs for the first time in team history, won all four games against Adirondack in 2017. Newark Pilots at Elmira Pioneers - 7:05 PM Inter-divisional action in the PGCBL West gets underway at Dunn Field, the host of the 2018 PGCBL All-Star Game. The Pioneers, who have made the PGCBL Playoffs in five straight seasons, host the first PGCBL champions in the Pilots. The Pioneers won the season series 6-2 in 2017. Glens Falls Dragons at Saugerties Stallions - 7:05 PM Action in the East Division, the league's only five-team division, begins with a matchup between Saugerties and Glens Falls. Last season, the teams were relatively evenly matched, with the Stallions winning six games to the Dragons' four in a ten game series. Oneonta Outlaws at Jamestown Jammers - 7:05 PM The reigning PGCBL West Division Champions begin their quest for a second straight trip to the PGCBL Finals against the Outlaws. Jamestown swept the season series between the teams in 2017, winning all four games. |
