Dutchmen End Inaugural PGCBL Season with Twin Bill SplitThe Albany Dutchmen (18-29) snapped their losing streak on the last day of the PGCBL season with a 3-2 victory in the first game of a doubleheader against the Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League East champs, the Glens Fall Golden Eagles (31-17), at East Field on Wednesday night. Justin Brantley (Siena) picked up his fourth win of the season going the distance in the game. He allowed two runs on six hits, walked one and struck out eleven while Golden Eagles starter Max MacNabb (San Diego) allowed three runs on three hits, walking four and striking out four across four and two-third innings. Brantly showed exceptional poise and determination on the hill and "left it all out there", knowing that there wasn't any calvary available to ride in from the bullpen. The Golden Eagles opened the scoring in the fourth inning. Kyle Ruchim (Northwestern) was hit by a pitch with one-out and then scored on Josh Anderson’s (Yavapai) second double of the game to give Glens Falls a 1-0 lead. David Olsen extended the Golden Eagles lead to 2-0 on his RBI single to left field. The Dutchmen battled back in the top of the fifth inning. Matt Wehrli (Yavapai) scored on shortstop Joey Boney’s (Cypress) two-out RBI single, which just went off the glove of Josh Anderson cutting the Golden Eagles lead to 2-1. Glens Falls reliever Dylan Baker (Tacoma C.C.) came on in relief of starter Max MacNabb following the two-out hit by Boney. Spotlight Player of the Week Jevonte Osterhout (Saint Rose) gave Albany the lead and victory at 3-2 on his two-RBI double to left center field. In game two, the Dutchmen were defeated by a score of 7-0. The victory for Glens Falls clinched the number one spot in the PGCBL East Division. They will host the Newark Pilots in round one of the PGCBL playoffs. Wednesday concluded the Dutchmens first season in the PGCBL and at Bob Bellizzi Field.
