The PGCBL returns to a full six-game slate on Wednesday, with only the Geneva Red Wings taking the day off. Four of the day's six games are divisional matchups.
Wednesday's Scheduled Games
Newark Pilots at Utica Blue Sox
One night after both teams were off, the Newark Pilots travel to Utica for the only time this season. Utica will make their only trip to Colburn Park in Newark on July 10, completing a two-game season series. Troy Naab (Embry-Riddle), who tossed seven shutout innings against Mohawk Valley in his last start, gets the ball for the Blue Sox. Newark will counter with Trent Baker (Angelo State).
Glens Falls Dragons at Mohawk Valley DiamondDawgs
A battle between two former division rivals is set for Little Falls on Wednesday night. The Dawgs and the Dragons will only meet twice in the regular season, with a game at East Field in Glens Falls scheduled for Sunday night. Mario Ferraioli (Iona) will look to push his season record to 3-0 for Mohawk Valley, while Glens Falls' Mitch Guerrieri (Goldey-Beacom) will attempt to lower his 2.53 ERA.
Watertown Rapids at Adirondack Trail Blazers
In PGCBL Central Division action, the team with the best record in the PGCBL faces the team with the worst. Watertown is currently riding a three-game winning streak, and has won all three games against Adirondack thus far this season. The Rapids will send Xavier Czepiel (Southern New Hampshire) to the mound for his third start of the season, while the Trail Blazers will hand the ball to Mike Sansone (Fairfield) for the second time.
Albany Dutchmen at Oneonta Outlaws
The Albany Dutchmen regained first place in the PGCBL East on Tuesday with a 3-2 win over Glens Falls, and will look to maintain that lead against another division rival. Nick Artymowicz (Southern New Hampshire) will make the start for the Dutchmen, while Mark Anderson (Lafayette) toes the rubber for the third time for Oneonta.
Amsterdam Mohawks at Saugerties Stallions
Amsterdam comes into Wednesday's road game at Saugerties red hot, having won five of their last six games. Wednesday's game is the third matchup of the season between Amsterdam and Saugerties, with both teams taking a game on their home field. The pitching matchup will see Zack Durant (Herkimer) face off with Gregory Allard (Stony Brook), with both pitchers currently holding a sub-3.00 ERA, mostly in relief.
