PGCBL Daily Roundup: June 26, 2018The PGCBL returns to a six-game slate on Tuesday night, including three games with teams from the same division. Monday's Results Tuesday's Scheduled Games Oneonta Outlaws at Amsterdam Mohawks Despite sitting in last place in the East Division, Oneonta is just 1.5 games back of first place, and will look to make up ground against the Amsterdam Mohawks at Shuttleworth Park. The Mohawks won their first meeting of the season with the Outlaws in walk-off fashion on Friday. The Mohawks are sending Indiana righthander Connor Manous to the mound for his first start of the season. Manous worked 1.2 scoreless innings against the Outlaws back on June 22. Utica Blue Sox at Mohawk Valley DiamondDawgs In the PGCBL Central, Utica and Mohawk Valley both sit within three games of Watertown, and will battle for position in Little Falls on Tuesday night. Utica holds a 2-1 lead over the defending PGCBL Champions, winning over Mohawk Valley on consecutive nights on June 14 and 15. Tonight's game is the fourth meeting of eleven this season. Erislandy Rives (Barry) gets the start for the DiamondDawgs for the first time this season after six bullpen outings. Glens Falls Dragons at Saugerties Stallions The Glens Falls Dragons moved just percentage points behind Albany in the PGCBL East with a victory on Monday night, and head down to Cantine Field in Saugerties to face the Stallions, who have won four straight. Glens Falls, who holds a 2-1 lead in the season series, will call upon UMass Lowell product Sal Fusco to make the start in Saugerties, as the righthander will look to continue his stretch of six scoreless innings this season. Jamestown Jammers at Watertown Rapids The best two records in the PGCBL face off in Watertown on Tuesday night, as the 15-3 Jammers meet the 12-6 Rapids. It is the only meeting this season between the teams, and may serve as preview for a series in the PGCBL Playoffs. Jamestown's usual closer, Clay Schwaner (Wofford) will get the start for the Jammers. Schwaner enters with a 0.00 ERA in eight innings of work, and has saved three games this season. Geneva Red Wings at Adirondack Trail Blazers One night after a come from behind victory over the Utica Blue Sox, the Trail Blazers return home to face the Geneva Red Wings. Geneva swept a home-and-home with the Trail Blazers to start the season, with two more games still on the schedule.Tom Ambrosino (Adelphi) will be the starting pitcher for the Trail Blazers, making his third start of the season. Ambrosino, who holds a 1-1 record, pitched a scoreless, hitless innings against Geneva on June 2. Albany Dutchmen at Elmira Pioneers The Albany Dutchmen travel west to Dunn Field for the first time this season to face the Elmira Pioneers, as the Dutchmen look to remain in first place in the East Division. The teams will play twice this week, with the Pioneers heading to Connors Park at Siena College on Thursday. Dutchmen head coach Nick Davey will give the ball to Zachary Merchant (Southern New Hampshire) for his third start of the 2018 season. |
