A seven game slate is scheduled for Friday night in the PGCBL, including a doubleheader that could dramatically alter the Eastern Division standings.
Friday's Scheduled Games
Oneonta Outlaws at Glens Falls Dragons
In a doubleheader where a sweep could move both teams into first place in the PGCBL, the Outlaws and the Dragons meet in Glens Falls. The season series is tied at 1-1, with the home team winning both contests. In game one, Logan Moody (Georgia) will go for the Outlaws, while Julien Arcos (LIU Post) will get the ball for the Dragons. The game two matchup features Oneonta's Will Van Beusekom (Marist) and Glens Falls' Tom Taplin (Georgetown College).
Albany Dutchmen at Amsterdam Mohawks
First place is on the line at Shuttleworth Park, as the top two teams in the PGCBL East meet for the fourth time this season. The Mohawks have dominated the season series thus far, winning all three contests by a combined 16 runs. Including Friday, there are six games remaining between the rivals. A pair of 2-0 pitchers will step on the Shuttleworth Park mound, as Albany's Deaven Phillips (Tampa) is matched up with Amsterdam's Peyton Plumlee (Mississippi State).
Utica Blue Sox at Mohawk Valley DiamondDawgs
The second and third place teams in the Central Division battle for the fifth time this season. Mohawk Valley holds a two game lead over Utica for second place, which secures a spot in the PGCBL Playoffs. The season series between the teams is tied at two, with the DiamondDawgs evening the series on Tuesday with a 4-2 home win. For Mohawk Valley, Sam Beck (Skidmore), who has allowed just nine hits in 14 innings of work, will make his fourth start of the season.
Jamestown Jammers at Newark Pilots
Coming off a victory over Mohawk Valley on Thursday night, the Newark Pilots will challenge the team with the best record in the PGCBL. The Jammers have won both meetings against the Pilots this summer, winning both contests by two runs. Jamestown is scheduled to start Isaac Meza (Cal State Bakersfield) on the mound, while Newark is set to throw Allen Murphy (St. John Fisher). Both pitchers enter the contest with a record of 1-0.
Watertown Rapids at Geneva Red Wings
One night after a one-run ballgame between the teams, the Red Wings and Rapids will shift their home and home series to McDonough Park in Geneva. Watertown has won three straight contests against the Red Wings, including the 3-2 victory on Thursday night at the Alex T. Duffy Fairgrounds. Former PGCBL Pitcher of the Week Sean Lubreski (NJIT) is scheduled to make the start for the Red Wings at McDonough Park.
Saugerties Stallions at Elmira Pioneers
Saugerties and Elmira will meet for the second time this season, as a scheduled contest between the teams was suspended on Wednesday. The Stallions claimed a 5-4 victory over the Pioneers on June 13 in the first full meeting of the season between the clubs. Noah Stone (Arkansas State) will look to improve on his 1-3 record as the Friday night starter for the Stallions, who will look to keep pace in the Eastern Division.
