Freshmen Parker Curry and Frankie Navarrete will suit up this season in Elmira looking to gain valuable playing time and experience. Both players have showed quick adjustment to the college game early on for the Bulldogs.
Curry, a native of Pelham, Ala. played for Pelham High School where he was named the 2011 Defensive Player of the Year. With Curry, the Pioneers now have 2 right handed arms in their rotation. Curry has seen action in 3 contests this season for the Bulldogs, logging 7 innings and allowing 1 run on 5 hits with 5 strikeouts. Although Parker's frame is not typical of a power pitcher, "His slider has allowed him to get off to a fast start this season as he is striking out over 1 per inning" stated head coach Matt Burch.
Navarrete, a native of Miami, Fla. was a team captain his senior year at Columbus High School. Navarrete becomes the first middle infielder signed for this upcoming season and through 11 games is 8 for 40 at the plate with 2 home runs, 6 walks and 7 runs batted in. Frankie is a highly touted player that is earning playing time this spring. "Navarette is an exciting player that will be our everyday shortstop" stated head coach Matt Burch.
