Wizards edge past Trail Blazers for seventh-straight win

WATERTOWN- Watertown (12-10) won its seventh-consecutive game by defeating visiting Adirondack (7-13), 3-2. Austin Lueck (South Florida) paced the Rams with a 2-for-4 night contributing two stolen bases. Henry McAree (Shoreline) picked up the win (1-0) for the Rams while Joe Borelli (Farleigh Dickinson) took the loss (0-3) for the Trail Blazers.

Both teams tallied single runs in the second inning. Alex Mata (Saint Leo) led off the inning with a single. Dominic Fazio (High Point) then followed with a single which led Mata to third. Mata eventually came around to score on a Connor Gaerlick (Pepperdine) sacrifice fly. Watertown answered with a run of their own in the home half of the inning. Lueck delivered a one-out single, stole second base, advanced to third following two walks and came around to score on a Cameron Allen (St. John Fisher) ground out.

Watertown scored two runs in the fifth to take a 3-1 lead. Justin Protacio (Kansas) and Bryce Greager (Chandler-Gilbert) led off the inning with walks. JJ Wagner (Pacific) drive in Protacio with a sacrifice fly. Austin Lueck then drove home Greager with a single to left-field to make the game 3-1.  Adirondack scored a run in the top of the seventh to make it a one-run game. Luke Emling (Villanova) came around to score on a Dominic Fazio RBI single.

Watertown starter Henry McAree hurled six innings allowing two runs to pick up the win. Cody Culp (Bellevue) pitched three scoreless innings to record his third save of the season. Adirondack starter Eli Anderson (Northern Illinois) pitched two innings allowing one run while striking out two. Joe Borelli relieved Anderson and tossed five innings for coach Ryne Foster.

Bryce Greager finished 1-for-3 with a walk and a run for Watertown. Cameron Allen (St. John Fisher) also went 1-for-3 with a RBI for the Rams.

Brandon Jossey (Seton Hill) went 1-for-3 with a hit by pitch and a stolen base for Adirondack. Dominic Fazio and Matt Chaidez (Cal State Stainislaus) both delivered multi-hit performances.

Watertown will travel to Utica tomorrow to face the Brewers. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 PM. Adirondack travels to Mohawk Valley to play the DiamondDawgs with first pitch scheduled for 5:05.
