A day after rain and wind postponed the four PGCBL games on the schedule for the night, teams are set to retake the field on Thursday.
To update on the re-scheduling of games:
The Albany/Adirondack game scheduled for last night will be made up on June 29 in Albany as part of a double-header. Both games will be seven innings and first pitch for game one is scheduled for 5:05 p.m.
The Amsterdam/Mohawk Valley game scheduled for last night will be made up on June 16 in Little Falls as part of a double-header. Both games will be seven innings and first pitch for game one is scheduled for 5:05 p.m.
The Elmira/Utica game scheduled for last night will be made up on June 21 in Utica as part of a double-header. Both games will be seven innings and first pitch for game one is scheduled for 5:05 p.m.
The Glens Falls/Newark game scheduled for last night will be made up on June 18 in Newark as part of a double-header. Both games will be seven innings and first pitch for game one is scheduled for 5:05 p.m.
Now to preview tonight’s games:
Glens Falls at Amsterdam 6:35 p.m.
The Glens Falls Golden Eagles will make the trip to Shuttleworth Park for the first time this season, as they will take on the 2-3 Amsterdam Mohawks. The two teams met on June 8 in Glens Falls, with Amsterdam winning 11-5. The Golden Eagles are currently hitting .249 as a team, the third best mark in the PGCBL. The Mohawks pitching staff has a combined 2.49 ERA, also the third best in the PGCBL. First pitch in Amsterdam is scheduled for 6:35 p.m.
Newark at Watertown 7:00 p.m.
The West Division-leading Newark Pilots will make the short two hour trip to Watertown to take on the Rams, who look to climb back to .500 after losing their last game against Mohawk Valley. The Newark pitching staff currently has a combined 2.39 ERA, second best in the PGCBL. Watertown has scored the most runs of any PGCBL team with 37 runs through the team’s first seven games. First pitch in Watertown is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
Mohawk Valley at Elmira 7:05 p.m.
With both teams coming off home wins, the Mohawk Valley DiamondDawgs and Elmira Pioneers will face off in Elmira. Both teams are also a game out of first place in their respective divisions. The Elmira offense currently has a PGCBL-leading .278 team batting average. Mohawk Valley is hitting .326 with runners on base, but just .173 with the bases empty. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
Albany at Adirondack 7:15 p.m.
Coming off their first loss of the season, the Albany Dutchmen look to get back on track in Boonville as they take on the Adirondack Trail Blazers. The Dutchmen lost in Amsterdam on Tuesday to snap a season-opening five-game winning streak for Albany. Adirondack came back from a 6-0 deficit to beat the Utica Brewers 8-7 in eleven innings on Tuesday. The Albany pitching staff has a league-leading 1.80 team ERA while the Trail Blazers lineup is hitting just .208 combined, tied for worst in the league. First pitch is scheduled for 7:15 p.m.
