Nick Davey to return as Albany Dutchmen managerThe Albany Dutchmen are extremely happy to announce that Nick Davey will return as the manager of the Dutchmen for the 2016 season, which will be his seventh as the Albany head coach. In his six seasons as the head coach, Davey has won 128 games and has led the Dutchmen to the PGCBL Playoffs in three consecutive seasons. Davey is one of just two managers who have led their teams since the inception of the Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League. “Nick has done a great job over his six years with the Dutchmen, and we are excited to have him back for 2016,” Brinkman said. “We hope we can continue the momentum from three straight playoff appearances into another successful campaign.” “I’m extremely excited to return to the Dutchmen for my 7th season. I can't thank Paul (Samulski, President), Alan (Bignall, Partner), Jason and Eric (Samulski, Assistant GM) enough for everything they do and all the support they give me as we try to bring a championship to the Albany community,” Davey said. “I’d also like to thank my wife for the support that she has given me each and every summer, because without her support it wouldn't be possible.” The Albany head coach added that he expects the Dutchmen to make a leap in 2016. “Making the playoffs for the third straight year was a good accomplishment, but I think it’s fair to say that we as an organization are ready to make the next step,” Davey remarked. “I think our fans are definitely going to see the best team we've had to date as an organization, led by a very talented pitching staff.” Davey also said he believes the expansion of the league will make for an even higher level of baseball for fans to enjoy in 2016. Over the past two weeks, the PGCBL has announced the return of the Oneonta Outlaws and the addition of the Geneva Red Wings and Jamestown Jammers. “It’s nice to see the league keep expanding. With the addition of Oneonta, Geneva, and Jamestown, the PGCBL keeps moving into New York communities that love and support the game of baseball,” he said. “Hopefully the 2016 season will be the best the PGCBL has had to offer yet.” The official return of Davey starts the march towards the 2016 season, the eighth in the history of the Albany Dutchmen. |
