Collegiate Alumni Roundup: March 21

Weather forced the cancelation of many games across the country this week but in the games that were played, PGCBL alumni stood out.

As we continue to track PGCBL alumni in their collegiate seasons, this week we look at some of the top performers among 2014 alumni.

Here’s the fourth alumni roundup of the season:

  • Joe Ogren (Watertown) went 2-for-5 with two triples and two RBIs on Friday for Bucknell.
  • Conrad Ziemendorf (Newark) homered on Friday for Cortland and went 2-for-3 with three RBIs in the other game of the doubleheader for the Red Dragons.
  • Rollie Lacy (Adirondack) picked up the win for Creighton on Friday with 5.2 IP of work, allowing just one earned run while striking out four. Lacy is now 4-1 on the season.
  • Brandon Holup (Elmira) improved to 3-0 on the season with seven innings of shutout ball to go with 11 strikeouts and three hits allowed on Saturday for East Stroudsburg.
  • Drew Hercik (Watertown) went 3-for-5 with a double and five RBIs on Friday for East Stroudsburg.
  • Jake Salpietro (Amsterdam) went 2-for-4 with two home runs on Saturday for Fairfield and homered in the other game of the doubleheader.
  • Sam Sinnen (Elmira) picked up the win won Friday for Old Dominion with five innings of three-run ball to go with six strikeouts. He’s now 2-0 on the season.
  • R.J. Devish (Adirondack) is hitting .404 on the season with an on-base percentage of .545 for Rutgers as one of the only leadoff-hitting catchers in Division I baseball.
  • Andrew Tidwell (Newark) notched the save on Sunday for Saginaw Valley State with an inning and a third of scoreless relief.
  • Thomas Hackimer (Amsterdam) improved to 3-0 on the season with 4.1 innings of one-run relief on Sunday for St. John’s.
  • Tanner Giesel (Newark) has a 17-game hitting streak for Georgia College.
  • Kyle Teachout (Newark) earned the win on Sunday for Hendrix with three scoreless innings of work.
  • Daniel Imbro (Newark) picked up his third win of the season on Saturday for Hendrix with seven scoreless innings to go alongside seven strikeouts.
  • JaVon Shelby (Amsterdam) hit two home runs, drove in seven runs and added a triple on Sunday for Kentucky.

On April 4 we’ll catch up with the 2015 alumni, including Michael Fitzsimmons (Albany), who homered in the first weekend of conference play for Ole Miss.

The PGCBL is affiliated with Perfect Game, the largest independent scouting service in the country.  Last year, more than 1,400 professional players had either worn the uniform of a PGCBL team or participated in a Perfect Game event.
