Last Night’s Games:

Adirondack 17 Saugerties 2

A nine-run second inning propelled the Adirondack Trail Blazers to a 17-2 win over the Saugerties Stallions in Boonville.

In the second, Kenny Collins hit a grand slam, Kyle Cunningham hit an RBI triple, Justin Lebeck hit an RBI single and Mark Venice hit a two-run home run. The Trail Blazers scored two more in the third on a groundout and another Lebeck RBI single.

Caleb Kerbs drove in Saugerties’ first run of the game with an RBI single in the fifth. An error and a wild pitch in the home half plated two more for Adirondack. Then in the sixth, Paul Piccolino hit an RBI single, an error plated two runs and a GIDP scored another.

Josh Partridge got the win for the Trail Blazers, striking out six in five innings of work. Ben Contento took the loss for the Stallions.

Mohawk Valley 5 Amsterdam 3

In the two teams’ first matchup of the season, the Mohawk Valley DiamondDawgs topped the Amsterdam Mohawks, 5-3, for their fifth straight win.

The DiamondDawgs jumped on the board in the first on a Michael Conti RBI single and the lead was extended to 2-0 in the second on a Michael Ketchmark solo home run. A Mike Martinez RBI triple in the fifth made it a 3-0 game and two RBI singles in the sixth extended the lead. Amsterdam responded with two runs in the seventh on a Dan Maynard RBI double and a groundout. The Mohawks rallied for a run in the ninth but it wasn’t enough as Mohawk Valley held on in Little Falls.

Joe DeSarro tossed eight innings and allowed three runs while striking out seven to earn the win for Mohawk Valley as Zachary Vennaro notched the save. Cameron Enck took the loss for Amsterdam. 

Elmira 5 Geneva 4

The Elmira Pioneers broke a 4-4 tie in the top of the tenth inning to beat the Geneva Red Wings, 5-4, on the road.

In extras, Connor Burns scored Blake Buckman with an RBI double to take the 5-4 lead. Elmira had scored the game’s first four runs, with two coming in the second on a Kyle Ruth RBI single and a fielder’s choice and two in the fourth on another Ruth RBI single and a sacrifice fly.

Geneva got one run back in the seventh before scoring three in the eighth on a Britton Araujo RBI single and a Jordan Wiley two-RBI single to tie the game.

Ethan Daily got the win for the Pioneers as Parker Caracci notched the save. Joe Kwasniewski took the loss.

Oneonta 4 Glens Falls 3

The Oneonta Outlaws scored two runs in two separate innings to earn the win over the Glens Falls Dragons at East Field.

A Griffin Neuer two-RBI single in the first gave Glens Falls a 2-0 lead but Oneonta tied it up in the third on RBI singles from Quin Cotton and Carter Austin. A Dave Hoffman RBI single in the fourth gave the Dragons the lead but the Outlaws responded with two more in the fifth on an Alex Malsch RBI single and a Taylor Maxey RBI single, which proved to be the winning run.

Antonio Baglivo tossed three shutout innings of relief to get the win while Drue Brooks took the loss for Glens Falls.

Utica 5 Jamestown 4 

The Utica Blue Sox rallied from a run down in the ninth to walk off against the Jamestown Jammers at home.

After the Jammers rallied for two runs in the ninth and Christ Conley gave them a 4-3 lead with an RBI single in the top of the inning, Dylan Hutcheson tied the game with an RBI single in the bottom of the ninth and Jared Baldinelli hit an RBI single to give the Blue Sox the 5-4 win.

Jamestown scored the game’s first run in the second on a Nick Garland RBI double and extended the lead to 2-0 in the third on a sacrifice fly. Utica rallied for three runs in the sixth to take a 3-2 lead on a Kyle Winkler RBI single, a Taylor Olmstead RBI double and a Robbie Young RBI single before the ninth inning heroics. 

Chad Burrows got the win for the Blue Sox and Cory Blessing took the loss.
