Amsterdam 4 Adirondack 3

The Amsterdam Mohawks took over first place in the East Division with a 4-3 win over the Adirondack Trail Blazers at Shuttleworth Park.

The Mohawks got out to an early leading, scoring one run in the first on a Chris LaVorgna solo home run. Joe Genord extended the lead to 2-0 in the fourth with a solo home run of his own. Adirondack scored its first run of the game in the fifth on a groundout. Both teams scored two runs in the eighth to account for the rest of the game’s scoring. 

Chase Haney earned the win for the Mohawks with Tim Naughton notching the save. Don McWreath took the loss for Adirondack.

Saugerties 7 Albany 5

The Saugerties Stallions broke a seven game losing streak with a 7-5 win over the Albany Dutchmen on the road.

Each team scored a lone run in the first inning and Albany took a 3-1 lead in the third on two errors. Saugerties responded with three runs, including two on a Brian Dempsey single, to take the lead for good The Stallions added two runs in the fifth and a lone run in the sixth to conclude their scoring. Albany rallied for two runs in the bottom of the ninth but it wasn’t enough as Saugerties held on.

Matthew Jones tossed seven solid innings to earn the win for Saugerties while Dylan D’Anna took the loss for Albany.

Elmira 5 Newark 3

The Elmira Pioneers got back to their winning ways Thursday with a 5-3 win over the Newark Pilots at Colburn Park.

The Pioneers took a 1-0 lead in the second before plating three in the third on a Lucas Denney RBI single, a walk and a sacrifice fly. Newark scored two runs in the fourth on a Chris Whelan RBI single and a Russ Olive RBI single. The Pilots made it a one-run game in the sixth on a Luke Reynolds solo home run but Zeke Lewis hit an RBI double for Elmira in the eighth to add an insurance run for the visitors. 

Taylor Ahearn struck out seven over six strong innings to earn the win as Parker Caracci notched the save. Xan Reese took the loss for Newark.

Geneva 2 Victor 1

The Geneva Red Wings scored two runs in the seventh to lead them to a 2-1 win over the Victor RailRiders, their second win over the RailRiders in as many days.

In the seventh, a wild pitch and a bases loaded walk accounted for the two Geneva runs. Victor scored its lone run of the game in the eighth on a sacrifice fly.

Alec Jordan tossed seven innings of one-run ball to earn the win for Geneva and Joe Kwasniewski notched the save. Dominic Danetti took the loss for Victor.

Mohawk Valley 5 Glens Falls 3 (Game One)

The Mohawk Valley DiamondDawgs held off a seventh inning rally by the Glens Falls Dragons to win game one of a doubleheader, 5-3, in Little Falls.

A Drew Arciuolo two-RBI double in the third gave the DiamondDawgs the lead. Mohawk Valley scored three more in the sixth on a Sean Mazzio two-run single and an Arciuolo RBI single. Glens Falls rallied for three runs in the top of the seventh but the DiamondDawgs held on for the win.

Brendan Welch tossed 5.2 scoreless innings to earn the win while Joe Jones took the loss for Glens Falls.

Glens Falls 5 Mohawk Valley 2 (Game Two) 

A three-run fifth inning propelled the Glens Falls Dragons to a 5-2 win over the Mohawk Valley DiamonDawgs in game two of a doubleheader. 

After scoring lone runs in the first and second innings, the Dragons extended their lead to 5-0 in the fifth on an error and a Chris Kwitzer two-run home run. Mohawk Valley rallied for two runs in the sixth, including one on a Tanner Wessling RBI single, but it wasn’t enough.

Andrew Kneussle tossed five shutout innings to earn the win as Colin Bohnert took the loss for Mohawk Valley.

Jamestown 11 Oneonta 7

Despite a six-run ninth inning by Oneonta, the Jamestown Jammers beat the Outlaws, 11-7, at home on Thursday.

Oneonta got out to a 1-0 lead in the first on an Alex Malsch RBI single. Jamestown tied the game in the second on a groundout and took a 2-1 lead in the third on a sacrifice fly. Christ Conley hit a two-run home run in the fourth and Ben Brookover hit a solo home run as part of a four-run inning.

The Jammers also scored four runs in the fifth inning, including two on an Aidan McDermott double. Luke Tevlinhit an RBI double in the eighth to cap off the scoring for Jamestown. In the ninth, Oneonta scored six runs, including two on a Cameron Coons double.

Mike Wilcox allowed one run over six innings in earning the win for Jamestown. Tyler Brown took the loss for Oneonta.
