Marino Leads Albany to Shutout Win in Saugerties

SAUGERTIES, N.Y. - The Saugerties Stallions were blanked by the Albany Dutchmen on the Fourth of July, losing by a final score of 11-0 in front of their home crowd at Cantine Field.

The first came in the bottom of the third inning, when Pat Lagravinese (Albany) with a single. The second came in the bottom of the eighth inning, when Matt Follow (Manhattan) hit a single. This was Forlow’s first game back from injury after being hit by a pitch in the hand in the Stallions' home opener. The Dutchmen offense began to erupt in the third inning and for they didn't look back for the rest of the game. Nick Estrella (Azusa Pacific)  hit a two out double, then Justin Childers (Ohio Dominican) was able to drive him home with an RBI double to the gap in between left and center field. He was then able to score after Brandt Holland (North Alabama) hit a single.

The Dutchmen were able to add one run in both the fourth and fifth innings.

In the seventh inning the Dutchmen exploded for five runs. The Stallions were looking to get out of the inning without giving up a run. They had 2 outs and what looked the be a routine ground ball to shortstop turned ended being an error.

Albany then finished up the game by scoring two more runs in the top of the 9th.

With that loss, the Stallions record drops to 13-12. The Stallions next game is tomorrow July 5th as the Stallions will be traveling to Albany to play the Dutchmen.
