Here’s a glance at the results from across the Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League (PGCBL) on Friday, July 14:

Albany (21-12) 10, Amsterdam (26-8) 4
The Dutchmen never trailed against the East Division-leading Mohawks after jumping out to a 2-0 lead in the top of the third on a Justin Childers (Ohio Dominican) solo home run and a Brandt Holland (North Alabama) sac fly. Already up 4-1 Albany scored six runs in the eighth inning to put the contest well out of Amsterdam’s reach. Childers and Nick Estrella (Azusa Pacific) stroked back-to-back run-producing doubles to extend the lead to 7-1, and two batters later, Holland drove in another run with an RBI double of his own in the big inning. On the mound, Matt Pierce (Siena) limited the red-hot Mohawks offense to just a single run on eight hits in 6.0 innings to earn the win.

Glens Falls (12-23) 15, Saugerties (15-18) 3
The Dragons continued their run of pure dominance at East Field with a lopsided win over the Stallions. After belting 15 runs on 14 hits on Friday night, Glens Falls improved to 12-4 at its home ballpark, but is still searching for its first road win of the season. It all started with a five-run bottom of the first inning, which was highlighted by a two-run single off the bat of Cullen Cicotte (William Peace), as the Dragons batted around the lineup in the frame. Along with Cicotte, both Matt Hamel (Siena) and Brandon Torres (SUNY Oneonta) posted multi-hit nights for the Dragons with three hits apiece, while the latter paced all batters with four RBIs. Starting pitcher James Varela (LIU Post) struck out a season-high eight in 6.0 innings of one-run ball for the win.

Jamestown (27-9) 4, Onondaga (15-18) 2
The Jammers snapped a three-game skid with a home victory over the Flames at Diethrick Park on Friday night. After playing to a scoreless draw in the first four innings, Ben Brookover (UTSA) got things going offensively with a two-run double in the fifth. Onondaga’s Colin BreVard (SUNY Cortland) cut the deficit in half with a sac fly in the top of the seventh, but the Jammers scored the next two runs with an RBI single from Chris Estrada (UTSA) in the bottom of the seventh and a bases-loaded walk in the eighth. Camillo Spinoso (Le Moyne) slugged an RBI double in the ninth to come within two runs of the lead, but Onondaga stranded the tying runs on the bases. Jamestown starter David Lyskawa (Niagara County C.C.) received the win after fanning 11 in just 6.1 innings of work.

Elmira (19-17) 18, Newark (11-26) 17 (10 innings)
The Pioneers and Pilots put on one of the most exhilarating shows of the season at Dunn Field on Friday night in a wild one-run extra-inning affair. The two teams combined for 35 runs on 45 hits in 10 innings of work. In the end, Elmira secured an important win over its division rival in walk-off fashion. Newark’s Christian Orr (Saginaw Valley State) gave the Pilots a one-run lead with a two-out RBI single in the top of the 10th, but Conor Grammes (Xavier) and Anthony Nucerino (UConn) won the game with back-to-back RBI singles in the bottom of the inning. Every player who stepped up to the plate recorded at least one hit, with Grammes leading all batters by going 6-for-7 with a game-high-tying four RBIs. Pios DH Marshall Gilbert (John A. Logan) was 4-for-6 with four RBIs, including a monster solo homer, while Newark center fielder Mark McKenna (Canisius) matched Gilbert by posting four hits and four RBIs in the lead-off spot.
