The PGCBL will see its biggest scheduled slate of the season on Tuesday, as a pair of doubleheaders stretch the league schedule to eight games.
Adirondack Trail Blazers at Watertown Rapids
After playing better than .500 baseball for the past 15 games, the Adirondack Trail Blazers can get within five games of first place with two wins over Watertown, who holds a 4-1 lead in the season series. A pair of 1-0 pitchers will be matched up in the opener, as Adirondack's John Polichetti (UMass Lowell) faces Watertown's Jack Buckley (Franklin and Marshall). In the nightcap, the starting pitchers will be Tom Ambrosino (Adelphi) and Addison Pawelek (Wayne State), who are both 2-0 on the season.
Newark Pilots at Geneva Red Wings
A twinbill is scheduled for McDonough Park on Tuesday, with two of the three teams vying for second place in the PGCBL West set to do battle. The first game of the doubleheader is a makeup game from June 24. The Pilots hold a 3-2 series lead thus far this season, a series that includes a 7-5 win for the Pilots at Colburn Park on Monday night. In the regularly scheduled contest, Newark will send Zach Mann (Chattanooga State) to the mound for his first start of the season after eight prior bullpen outings.
Jamestown Jammers at Albany Dutchmen
While the Jamestown Jammers are cruising in the PGCBL West, the Albany Dutchmen are locked in a fierce playoff battle in the East. Jamestown rallied for a 10-9 victory in the opening game of the series, played in Jamestown on Sunday. The Jammers trailed by as many as seven runs before scoring eight unanswered runs to snatch the victory. Ryan will face Ryan in the pitching matchup, as Jamestown righthander Conner Ryan (Mercyhurst) will oppose Albany righthander Ryan Greco (SUNY Brockport) at Connors Park.
Mohawk Valley DiamondDawgs at Utica Blue Sox
For the seventh time this season, Utica and Mohawk Valley will meet in a Central Division contest. The previous six games have been split, 3-3, with the Blue Sox winning the most recent matchup, a 3-2 triumph at Murnane Field on Sunday night. Mohawk Valley enters the contest with a 2.5 game lead for second place in the PGCBL Central. The Blue Sox will call upon Jacob Randolph (Central Alabama CC) to make the start, his third appearance of the season against the DiamondDawgs.
Glens Falls Dragons at Amsterdam Mohawks
The league's longest winning streak faces the league's longest losing streak in Amsterdam on Tuesday night. The Mohawks have won four straight to surge into first place in the East, while six consecutive losses have plummeted the Dragons into fifth, four games out of first place. Two pitchers without a decision on the mound this season will take the mound at Shuttleworth Park as Glens Falls' Sal Fasco (UMass Lowell) battles against Amsterdam's Nick DeBrino (Canisius).
Elmira Pioneers at Oneonta Outlaws
Elmira and Oneonta are meeting for the third time this season, with each team winning a previous game at Dunn Field in Elmira. The Outlaws come in tied for third in the gridlocked PGCBL East, while the Pioneers are tied for second in the PGCBL West. Oneonta is sending Chris Polleta (Fairfield) to the mound, while Rhyse Dee (Wake Forest) will get the ball for the Pioneers. Both pitchers are seeking their second win of the season.
