The Amsterdam Mohawks have released the signing of two high school pitchers for the 2016 summer that may not actually end up making to Amsterdam. Ian Anderson (Shenendehowa HS - headed to Vanderbilt) and Jeff Belge (Henninger HS - headed to St. Johns) are the top two rated high school putchers in New York State and both could find their names being called very quickly in the June MLB Draft.
Anderson has been rated as high as the #4 prospect in all of America this spring. He features a lean 6'3 frame with a fastball in the mid 90s and advanced feel for off speed pitches. The Vanderbilt committ has been projected to be selected in the top dozen picks in the draft.
Belge, a 6'5 240 specimen has also reached the mid 90s this spring. The left hander, committed to St. Johns, has also been discussed as a possible first round pick in June.
The Mohawks open the season on Wednesday June 1. They also have home games slated for Thursday June 2 and a fireworks night on Saturday June 4.
