Onondaga Flames Sign Power Hitting Catcher Gage LanningThe Onondaga Flames announced today they have signed former Herkimer Community College star catcher Gage Lanning for the 2017 summer season. The 6’1″, 207 lb. Lanning has enrolled at Canisius College and will play for the Golden Griffons with his remaining two years of NCAA eligibility. After a remarkable career with Junior College baseball power Herkimer CCC, the power hitting catcher finished his HCCC career in style last year with an incredible .405 batting average and 48 RBIs in 40 games. In his 116 at bats, he struck out only 12 times while compiling a slash line of .405/.503/690. He was elected to the 2016 NJCAA Division III All-Region Team as First Team catcher. Gage played for the Martha’s Vineyard Sharks of the Futures Collegiate Baseball League this past summer. An excellent defensive catcher, Lanning finished the Generals 2016 season with a 1.000 fielding percentage. Only one runner managed a stolen base while he was behind the plate. Flames Director of Baseball Ryan Stevens, commented, “We are excited to have Gage’s big bat in our lineup next summer. CNY fans are in for a real treat.” Lanning graduated from Paul V Moore HS, Central Square, NY. |
