Outlaws Edged By Jammers 7-3

ONEONTA, N.Y. - The Oneonta Outlaws dropped Monday night's home bout with the Jamestown Jammers by a final score of 7-3 at Damaschke Field.

Oneonta was fighting to snap a six game losing streak when sophomore pitcher Matt Ellmyer (Wofford College) started on the mound for the Outlaws tonight. The Jammers couldn’t touch Ellmyer for the first three innings of play as he put up three straight zeros. The Outlaws would jump out to an early 1-0 lead in the bottom of the second, Ian Fair (Northeastern University) would lead the inning off with a triple and then would later score on a fielder’s choice by Matt Tsukroff (Binghamton University).

The game would continue to the top of the fourth inning when Jamestown finally found their answer to Ellmyer’s pitching. Christ Conley (Canisius College) would lead the inning off with a double, Ryan Markey (St. John's) would then reach base by drawing a walk and with a flyout to the first basemen by the next batter, John Standohar (Mercyhurst college) then hit a single to load the bases with only one out. John Conti (Canisus College) with bases loaded hit a single that scored Conley and Markey giving the Jammers the lead 2-1. The inning would continue where the Jammers would pick up two more runs before the damage was over.

The Outlaws would answer back in the bottom of the fifth inning as Matt Tsukroff (Binghamton University) would lead the inning off with a double and later score on Stone Pellegrino’s (Wofford College) sac fly. Mark Flynn would also score as he reached on base with a walk and scored on Mike Brown’s (Dartmouth College) single. Those are the last runs Oneonta would score all night.

Ellmyer would go 6 innings and give up 4 runs on 6 hits, he was relieved by sophomore Greg Satriale (Binghamton University) as he went 2 innings and give up 3 runs on 5 hits. The Jammers would finish scoring in the eighth and hold onto the lead as they shut down the Oneonta offense for the final 4 outs in the game.

Oneonta has dropped to 6-18, and the Jammers have improved to 22-5 on the season. The Outlaws will take on the Utica Blue Sox in tomorrow night’s Fourth of July contest, game time is set for 6pm.
