Blue Sox Edge Dragons 7-6UTICA, N.Y. - The Utica Blue Sox kept the Glens Falls Dragons from earning their first road victory in an exciting and tight contest at Donovan Stadium, with Utica coming out on top 7-6 on Sunday night. Utica jumped out to a quick and early 3-0 lead after the first inning of play. Glens Falls would answer right back adding one in the second and four in the fourth to take a 5-3 lead heading to the fifth inning. Then Adam LaRock (Iowa) took back the lead for Utica with one big swing of the bat, as he blasted a go ahead three run homerun to give the Sox a 6-5 lead in the bottom of the fifth. Then in the seventh the Dragons would come back to tie the game at six a piece on Dan Lowndes’ (Siena) RBI single. Utica would regain the lead again in the bottom of the eighth thanks to Taylor Olmstead’s (SNHU) RBI sac fly, it’s now 7-6 Utica going to the ninth. Austin Salnitis (Central Connecticut State) came in to close the game for Utica, but he ran into trouble quickly as the Dragons loaded the bases with only one out. Ryan Beamish (Lee) came on to pinch hit, and Salnitis got him to ground into a game ending double play to escape the danger and escape with the win. With the win, Utica improves to 9-20 on the season. They are back home again on Monday night as they host the Albany Dutchmen. With the loss, Glens Falls remains winless on the road this season and fall to 9-21. Luckily for the Dragons, they return home on Monday night with a matchup against the Saugerties Stallions. |
