Stallions Win Franchise-Record 15th Game, Beat Dragons 4-3SAUGERTIES, N.Y. - On Tuesday night, the Saugerties Stallions established a new franchise record for wins with their 15th of the season, as they defeated the Glens Falls Dragons 4-3 at Cantine Field. The Stallions came into the game riding a three-game losing streak and had dropped seven of their last 10, including two games decided by one run, but were ooking to get back to their winning ways and stay on course for the playoffs with the PGCBL All-Star game just one week away. In the first inning, five of the six outs were recorded by strike outs. Saugerties’ Drew Farkas (Hartford) started off the game with 2 strikeouts of his own. Jack Gonzalez (Stetson) was able to get the other out with a beautiful stretch at first base to record the out. Jack Gonzalez had a stellar defensive performance tonigh. Then Glens Falls’ Connor Romano (Rhode Island), struck out the Stallions in order. In the second inning Glens Falls’ Brandon Torres (SUNY Oneonta) hit a solo home run with one out to take an early 1-0 lead. In the top of the fourth inning, Drew Farkas was able to escape a bases loaded jam with 1 out to give up zero runs. The Stallions were able to score their first run when Tyler Kelder was able to drive in Luke Pettersen (Minnesota). After the Dragons added another run to give Glens Falls a 2-1 lead the Stallions were able to add another run in the bottom of the fifth inning. when Luke Pettersen hit an RBI single to drive in Matt Forlow (Manhattan) to tie the game at two. The Stallions had a big sixth inning. Both Jack Gonzalez and Nick Teitter (Saint Rose) lead off the inning by walking on eight consecutive pitches. Pat Lagravinese (Albany) hit a rocket back to the pitcher who then turned to throw to second base which lead to an error by the Dragons second baseman. Jack Gonzalez didn't slow down from the plays start to finish and he was able to score from second base after the ball went into center field. Nick Teitter was able to score on Matt Forlow’s base hit and the overthrow by the left fielder. Those four runs were enough for the Stallions relievers Brady Peterson (Stetson), Kevin Napoleon (Butler), and Matt Pushard (Maine) who all threw one scoreless inning each to hold the Dragons and get the win.
The winning pitcher tonight is Drew Farkas (Hartford). The losing pitcher is Connor Romano (Rhode Island). The save goes to Matt Pushard (Maine). The Stallions next game is tomorrow, July 12th, as the Stallions travel up to Utica to take on the Blue Sox. |
