Blue Sox Knock Out Outlaws 7-5UTICA, N.Y. - The Utica Blue Sox defeated the Oneonta Outlaws by a final score of 7-5 at Donovan Stadium on Saturday afternoon. In a back-and-forth game, the Outlaws would jump out to an early 1-0 lead in the top of the second, but Utica would come back and take a 2-1 lead on an error in the bottom of the third. Two innings later in the top of the fifth thanks to a solo home run by Mark Flynn (Columbia) and an error allowing Brendan Brundage (USC Upstate) to cross the plate allowed the Outlaws to take a 3-2 lead. But once again the Blue Sox would come back and take a 4-3 lead thanks to two runs in the bottom half of the fifth inning on an error and a Rob Andreoli (LIU Post) RBI single. The Outlaws had the bases loaded with only one out in the top of the seventh, but the Sox turned a double play to escape the threat still holding a 4-3 lead. Utica would then add three more in the bottom of the seventh to take a 7-3 lead thanks to a two RBI double by Taylor Olmstead (SNHU) and a sac fly by Kyle Norman (Buffalo). Oneonta could only muster two more runs in the top of the ninth but Logan Foster (Andrew) was able to come in and shut the door and get the save. Riley Moore (Diablo Valley C.C.) got the win for Utica going eight innings, allowing three runs on seven hits and four walks along with four strikeouts. With the win, Utica improves to 14-26. With the loss Oneonta falls to 12-25 on the season. |
