Jammers Throttle Newark, 14-3JAMESTOWN, N.Y. - The Jamestown Jammers won in convincing fashion on Tuesday night, as they defeated the Newark Pilots 14-3 at Diethrick Park. The win improves Jamestown's record to 31-13 (1st in Western Division), while the Pilots fall to 17-27. The Pilots took an early lead by scoring a run in the top of 1st as Mark McKenna (Canisius) singled and later scored on a Hunter Wells (Tyler JC) RBI- single. Newark went up 1-0, however, this lead would not last. The Jammers' offensive explosion would get started in the bottom of the 1st, as Jamestown would score 3 runs on 2 hits. Skyler Valentine (UTSA) drove in a run by sac fly. Jimmy Standohar (Mercyhurst) would drove home a pair of runs to make it 3-1 Jammers after 1. The Jammers would add 2 more runs in the bottom of the 3rd to make it 5-1. The Jammers would go on to score in the next 5 innings. In the bottom of the 4th John Conti (Canisius) led the inning off with a triple and would score as Chris Stefl (St. John's) would single to make it 6-1. In the 5th the Jammers would break the game open by scoring 4 runs on 4 hits. Alex O’Donnell (Mercyhurst) would double to get things started. Matt Cross (NCCC) would double to score O’Donnell. Ryan Markey (St. John's) would single to keep the inning going and John Conti (Canisius) ripped his 2nd triple of the game that scored 2. Chris Sefl (St. John's) would pick up an RBI with a sac fly to score Conti. Jammers went up 10-1 after 5. Starting pitcher David Lyskawa (NCCC) had another solid outing by going 5.0 innings, allowing 2 runs (2 Earned) on 6 hits and striking out 8. In the top of the 6th the Pilots would score a run to score make it 10-2, but in the bottom of the frame the Jammers would again increase their lead by scoring 2 runs on 2 hits including an RBI double by Matt Cross (NCCC). 12-1 after 6. In the 7th Ben Brookover (UTSA) would launch a home run over the left field fence to make it 13-2. The Jammers would tack on another run in the bottom of the 8th and the Pilots would score in the top of the 9th to make the final score 14-3.
