Glens Fall Ends Winless Road Streak With Victory at SaugertiesSAUGERTIES, N.Y.- The Saugerties Stallions dropped their 2017 regular-season finale at Cantine Field by a score of 8-1 to the Glens Falls Dragons, who entered Sunday without a road victory all season. The Dragons opened the scoring in the bottom of the second with a two-run home run off the bat of Ryan Beamish (Lee) to give a 2-0 lead which they never gave up. In the top of the third the Dragons bats came alive, as they scored on three straight hits to make the score 7-0. The Stallions tried to come back and scored one in the bottom of the third off a Jack Gonzalez (Stetson) sac fly. Saugerties would threaten many times throughout the rest of the game but couldn’t get anything to click and left runners on base almost every inning. The Dragons scored their final run in the top of the seventh off a fielder’s choice to make the lead 8-1. The Stallions' next game is a first-round playoff matchup against the Amsterdam Mohawks at Shuttleworth Park on Tuesday, August 1. |
