Jammers Complete Comeback, Beat Flames 8-5JAMESTOWN, N.Y. - In the 2017 regular-season finale, the Jamestown Jammers defeated the Onondaga Flames, 8-5, with a late game surge to secure the win. The Jammers finished the regular season with a 34-15 record and the Onondaga Flames finished with a 23-26 record. These two teams will face off again tomorrow in the first round of the West Division playoffs at 7:05 p.m. at Diethrick Park. The Flames jumped out an early lead by scoring two runs on two hits in the top of the first. They would add another run in the top of the third to make it 3-0 Flames. The Jammers would cut into that lead in the bottom of the third by scoring two runs on one hit to make it 3-2 Flames after three innings. In the top of the fifth Stephen Bennett (Canisius) led the inning off with a double and later scored, as Trey Baur (Cornell) tripled before scoring on a fielder’s choice that made it 5-2 Flames. In the bottom of the sixth the Jammers added a run, when Chris Estrada (UTSA) tripled and scored on a fielder’s choice, which reduced the deficit to 5-3. The Jammers would tie the game in the bottom of the seventh, when Connor Rule (Kansas State) ripped a double that scored two to tie the game up at 5-5. The Jammers would take the lead in the bottom of the eighth by scoring three runs on one hit and a combination of walks to take the 8-5 lead.
