Jammers Win Game 1 of West Division Championship Series vs. ElmiraJAMESTOWN, N.Y. - In the Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League's (PGCBL) West Division Championship Series, the top-seeded Jamestown Jammers took the first game of the best-of-three series from the Elmira Pioneers by a score of 9-3 on Wednesday night. In the bottom of the first the Jammers jumped out to an early lead by scoring two runs. Christ Conley (Canisius) doubled to lead off the inning and scored on a John Conti (Canisius) double. Conti would also score to make it 2-0 Jammers after the first. In the top of the second the Pioneers scored a run to cut the lead in half at 2-1. The Jammers got that run back in the bottom of the frame by adding a run to make it 3-1 Jamestown after two innings of play. In the top of the fourth, Pioneer Brayden Combs (Kentucky) crushed a home run down the right-field line to cut the Jammers' lead to 3-2. The Pioneers would add a run in the top of the fifth by scoring a run on two hits to tie the game up at 3-3. The Jammers would take the lead in the bottom of the sixth, when Skyler Valentine (UTSA) tripled and scored on an Alex O’Donnell (Mercyhurst) ground out. That gave Jamestown a one-run advantage at 4-3. The Jammers would then break the game open in the bottom of the seventh by scoring five runs on just one hit with a combination of walks to make it 9-3.
