Dragons Can't Rally on AdirondackGlens Falls, N.Y-The Glens Falls Dragons rallied from an 8-2 deficit with two runs in the eighth and another in the ninth, but a late rally came up short as the Adirondack Trail Blazers held on for a 9-5 win at East Field. Adirondack took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first when Lucas Stalman (Boston College) singled and came around to score on a wild pitch from Glens Falls starter Mitch Guerrieri (Goldy Beacom). The Dragons got even in the bottom of the frame on an RBI single from Zach Fritz (LIU-Post) off of Adirondack starter Jacob Small (Maine). Glens Falls regained the lead on back to back singles by Andrew Stanley (Arkansas) and Brian Hart (Marist), with Stanley coming around to score to make it 2-1. The Trail Blazers retaliated in the fifth with a three-run home run by Stalman to give Adirondack a 4-2 edge. Adirondack tacked on four more in the seventh against Dragon's reliever Sam Czabla (Xavier). Glens Falls got a two-run homer off the scoreboard in left field from Phoenix Hernandez (Southern New Hampshire) to make it 9-2 and the Dragons scored two more times in the ninth on a pair of unearned runs to come up a little short. Stanley was 3 for 4 for Glens Falls, while Danny Ryan (Fairfield) was 2 for 5 and Hernandez finished 2 for 4. Stalman had three hits for Adirondack, while Bradley Roberto (Franklin Pierce) and Jon Ladevaia (Adelphi) had two hits each. Small 1-0 took the win on the mound for Adirondack. Guerrieri 1-3 took the loss. Glens Falls is back at action tomorrow night at East Field to meet the Amsterdam Mohawks. Game time is 7 pm. |
