PGCBL Honors Four New Teams in Week 3 Awards
NEW HARTFORD, N.Y – Players representing four different teams were honored, each of them earning their squads the first accolades of the 2025 season as the PGCBL announces the Pitchers and Players of the Week for Week 3 of the 2025 season.
East Division
Pitcher of the Week: Dillon Harding, Glens Falls (UMass Dartmouth)
Player of the Week: Lewis Rodriguez, Saugerties (Marist University)
Harding was stellar in his start on June 20th when the Dragons defeated Mohawk Valley 3-2. He tossed six shutout innings, allowing just two hits and striking out five batters.
Rodriguez has been on a tear, collecting 10 hits in 14 at-bats (.714 avg) and helping the Stallions go 3-0 this week while averaging 11 runs per game over that time. He kicked off the week with a remarkable six hit game, scoring five runs as Saugerties defeated Amsterdam 10-9.
He had two more hits in each of the other games for Saugerties, knocking in a run in both games. Rodriguez smacked two doubles and a triple, collecting 14 total bases and also went 3-4 in stolen base attempts.
West Division
Pitcher of the Week: Matt McGeorge, Auburn (Mercyhurst University)
Player of the Week: Aidan Grabowski, Elmira (Tiffin University)
McGeorge earned victories in both of his appearances for Auburn this week. In a total of 8.1 scoreless innings pitched, he gave up just three hits, none of them for extra bases, while striking out 9 batters.
He surrendered just one hit in 3.1 innings of relief and struck out four batters during Auburn's June 18th win over Elmira, then took the ball to start in Game 2 of Sunday's doubleheader against Niagara. He fanned five in five innings and gave up just two hits to earn the victory as the Doubledays defeated the Ironbacks 9-4.
Grabowski batted .550 in seven games for the Pioneers, picking up 11 hits, including four doubles, and scoring 9 runs. He currently holds a six-game hitting streak and has four multi-hit games during that time, including a 3-4 day in Elmira's 13-9 win over Newark on June 20th, when he scored twice and drove in two runs.
The shortstop stole five bases and posted a .750 slugging percentage and a .600 OBP while helping Elmira improve to 11-6 during a week where they ran off five straight wins.
