PGCBL Names 60 Players Midseason All-Stars
NEW HARTFORD, N.Y – The Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League (PGCBL) is excited to announce the 60 players who have been selected as Midseason All-Stars, honored for their play from the beginning of the season through June 30th.
In lieu of a traditional All-Star game, the league selects All-Star teams at the midseason point from each of the two divisions, East and West. The All-Star game was replaced by an All-Star Team starting in 2021, though one was not selected in 2024.
Thirty-two players were selected from the West Division, which consists of eight teams (Auburn, Batavia, Elmira, Geneva, Jamestown, Newark, Niagara, Niagara Falls). The 7-team East Division (Amsterdam, Boonville, Glens Falls, Mohawk Valley, Oneonta, Saugerties and Utica) had twenty-eight players selected by the league for this honor.
The West-leading Batavia Muckdogs (18-9) and the Jamestown Tarp Skunks (18-11) led the way with 8 selections apiece. The Amsterdam Mohawks (20-6-1), who lead the East Division, earned 7 All-Star selections. The Niagara Falls Americans (19-11) had six players selected out of the West, while the Boonville Lumberjacks (15-10-1) and Saugerties Stallions (17-10) each had five selections to the East Team.
Rounding out the East team were four players from Mohawk Valley, three from Utica, and two each from Glens Falls and Oneonta. The West team included four players from Newark, two apiece from Auburn and Geneva, and one each from Niagara (CA) and Elmira.
Among the notable All-Stars featured on the West team were Justin Bremner (Jamestown) and Grant Moore (Niagara Falls), who led the league with 31 hits apiece through the first half of the season. The West squad also features the two league-leaders in pitching wins, Brennan Hileman (Auburn) and Nick Ianniello (Jamestown), who are both 5-0 on the season. Hileman also had a league-high 31.0 innings pitched and 32 strikeouts through the end of June.
A pair of Saugerties Stallions, Jamie Zee, who had a league-high five home runs, and Justin Ford, who led the PGCBL with 22 RBIs, each made the East quad, along with Boonville's Chase Triplett, who slugged .769 with 30 total bases. On the pitching side of the East roster, Derek Duval (Amsterdam) has posted a perfect 0.00 earned run average in 19.1 innings pitched, along with two victories and two saves.
