Perez Sets New PGCBL Stolen Base Record
BOONVILLE, N.Y. – With a pair of thefts in last night's game, Boonville's Andy Perez broke the Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League (PGCBL) single-season record for stolen bases.
Perez stole his 43rd and 44th base of the season in the Lumberjacks' 14-3 win over Glens Falls, breaking the previous mark of 43, set in 2022 by David Silva of the Albany Dutchmen. He tied the record in the top of the first inning after leading off the game with a single to center field.
After driving in a run with another single to center in the seventh, Perez swiped second base to break the record.
Through 36 games with the Lumberjacks, Perez has hit .320 with 39 hits and 38 runs scored. He has collected seven doubles, one triple and four home runs while driving in 19 runs.
He has multiple stolen bases in 13 different games this season, including four games with 3 bags swiped.
A native of Orange City, Florida, Perez attended Lake Mary High School and played for three years at the varsity level, hitting .425 with 30 stolen bases during his senior season. He will attend the University of Pittsburgh to play baseball for the Panthers in the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC).
Silva batted .289 in 41 games for Albany during the 2022 season, collecting 37 hits and 27 runs scored. He played four seasons with Ohio Dominican before finishing his college career at Bowling Green in 2024.
