Top Seeds Will Host Division Finals as PGCBL Playoffs Get Underway
NEW HARTFORD, N.Y. – Three of the four home teams were victorious on Monday evening, but there will be a new champion in the Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League (PGCBL) after the Saugerties Stallions were upset by the Utica Blue Sox in the quarterfinals round of the 2026 postseason.
Utica overcame a 2-0 deficit with five runs in the last three innings to secure a 5-3 victory over the defending champions and advance to the league semifinals on Tuesday evening. The Blue Sox will play top-seed Amsterdam, who topped the Oneonta Outlaws 5-2 at Shuttleworth Park.
Amsterdam won all 8 meetings with the Blue Sox this year, most recently a 16-14 win in Utica on Sunday in the last game of the regular season.
The Batavia Muckdogs took another step towards a return to the PGCBL Championship Series with a 12-1 win over fourth-seeded Auburn. Batavia scored six runs in the first three innings and never looked back, ensuring that there will be at least one more game at Dwyer Stadium this year.
It will be a rematch of last season's West Division Final on Tuesday night when Batavia hosts the #2 seed Jamestown Tarp Skunks. After five scoreless innings between the two sides tonight, Jamestown scored a pair of runs in the bottom of the sixth and tacked on six more in the eighth to pull away from the #3 seeded Elmira Pioneers, who they held to three hits on the evening in an 8-0 victory.
Batavia was 4-2-1 against Jamestown during the 2026 regular season.
