Four Players Honored as Week 2 Awards Announced
NEW HARTFORD, N.Y. – Many players made their mark on the Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League (PGCBL) this week, but of the countless remarkable plays and moments, the performances of four players earned them Player and Pitcher of the Week Awards for Week 2 of the 2026 season. These awards take into account all of the stats for the games from June 8th through June 14th.
East Division
Pitcher of the Week: John Rigas, Utica (Caldwell University)
Player of the Week: Aiden Dill, Amsterdam (Seton Hall University)
The righty, Rigas, allowed just one run while striking out eight batters in five innings against the defending PGCBL champion Saugerties Stallions. one remarkable game this week for the Blue Sox at home, posting a 1.80 earned run average in 5.0 innings of relief.
After striking out the side to get out of a bases loaded jam, Rigas blanked the Stallions for the next four innings, posting a 1.80 earned run average. He allowed just one walk and two hits on 87 pitches.
Dill flexed his power, hitting three home runs in five games for the Mohawks (4-1) and driving in nine runs with ten hits in 17 at-bats. He scored runs in all five games, including four in a 16-12 win over Utica on June 8th, and totalled 11 total runs during the week.
On June 10 versus Utica, Dill's home run that scored two of his teammates in the bottom of the eighth inning was the icing on the cake in a 14-4 win. Dill currently is tied for the league lead in RBIs (16) with teammate Anthony DeCesare, and is tied for third with 11 stolen bases after successfully swiping all four of his attempts in the last four games.
West Division
Pitcher of the Week: Jake Szlis, Batavia (Alfred State University)
Player of the Week: Eric Weeks, Jamestown (Canisius University)
In Batavia, Szlis turned in a sparkling performance, posting a 0.00 earned run average and earning the win with five shutout innings against Newark on June 13th.
Szlis allowed just two hits and one walk, with 11 strikeouts in his 81 pitches. Szlis also led the Muckdogs to their first shutout this season with the 11-0 seven-inning win to improve their record to 6-2.
For the Tarp Skunks, Weeks played in and started all five games this week (4-1). While hitting at a .611 clip in 18 ABs, he recorded 11 hits and six stolen bases. Weeks stole four bags alone in Jamestown's matchup against the Olean Oilers on June 9 and he currently sits at ninth place in the entire league with 9 stolen bases. Additionally, Weeks batted in six runs for his team and scored six times himself.
While not striking out at all, Weeks recorded two or more hits in all but one game he appeared in this week. Jamestown currently has the best record in the West Division at 10-2 and is on a two-game win streak.
